Bayton CE Primary School
Welcome back after our first half term!
Now we are back into the swing of things, we are really trying hard to retain and re-use all the skills we've learnt so far in Year 6. We'll even be doing a few practise SATs papers this half term. We will continue to give the help and support that they will need in order to make as much academic process as possible. W
In Literacy and Maths, children will be set individual targets from Miss Farr's teacher assessment based on what the children have achieved and show good understanding of so far. High expectations and a positive approach to the curriculum will continue to be evident.
The children will be developing their dance skills in P.E, finding out about Christianity in RE and having the opportunity to discuss important things in PSHE sessions, all taught by myself. Our lessons will be taking a thematic approach this year, where we will study a thoughtful picture book and creating writing and learning around it. We will be continuing our ‘Cast Aways’ based on the book ‘The Island’ by Armin Greder. In Science we will be learning about animals including humans that live on Islands and compare these with several other habitats. We will becontinuing to study Geography, looking at Islands: their formation and how there are inhabited. P.E is on a Tuesday but as always this can change so could you please ensure that P.E bags are in school for the week.
Children may bring their own stationery in a pencil case, which can stay in their desk. They are old enough to be responsible for their own property. As they are the oldest children in the school, I expect them to set a good example to all those younger than them in everything that they do.
